Thousand Suns: Foundation Transmissions — To Layout

May 24, 2009

The next Thousand Suns book is done and is in layout. This book is due out in August (in time for GenCon) and contains the work of two new writers who won the contest we held last year. In addition there is new material by James and myself.

Want to know what is in the book?

I thought so, here is the Table of Contents. Note, this is from the final file, and does not correspond to the final layout. It is just guide to show you what you can expect to see.

There is a lot of cool things in this book. This is going to be packed with cool ideas and cool things you can add to any game. I really like your chapters, but Chapter 2 is one of the ones that James and I really grooved to. It is a bit complex, but it introduces some very cool options for existing skills. Gabriel, who wrote it, did a excellent job with it.

The Robot chapter is a good one as well. I will admit we struggled with the concept, because for us, we felt that if you want to play a robot, create a character like normal and call it a robot. Still, we realize some would not like such a rule, so we really rethought the concept. It is a very cool chapter.

This was a a fun book to work on. I am also glad it is done. I was working on this at the same time as Colonial Gothic Revised. Plus, SS&S was calling for attention. Now with this book done, we can breathe a little easier and get to work on SS&S. 🙂

Wow! I can’t wait to see how it will look like. August suddenly seems far. Glad you liked chapter 2 Richard. For the others (5 and 6) I was inspired by James’ comment about wishing to give players a “toolbox” set of rules.

@Gabriel — Yeah, I really liked your Scheming entry. It was one that really grabbed me, and I love the ideas you have in there. To be honest, I am really excited about this book. There is some cool things in it!
